Welcome To Sustainable Healthy Eating

Our mission at Old Okie Acres is to promote a healthy, old-fashioned lifestyle that is rich in tradition and values. We believe that with hard work, dedication, and a little prayer, everyone has the capability to better themselves through the intake of good nutrition while avoiding the glut of over-processed foods that are sold in supermarkets today.

Though our farm is not yet producing for market, we welcome all visitors of this website to partake of our content and get to know us. This venture was just launched in May of 2018 so we may not have a whole lot here just yet but keep checking back! There’s so much information we intend to share with you. We’re just getting started.

Why We Are Here

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in 2017, Oklahoma residents suffered the 8th-highest obesity rate in the country. We Okies have been in the top ten of this list for many years. Oklahoma showed the greatest increase in obesity rate – an additional 18.5 percent over the past two decades – than any other state. The CDC report also showed that Oklahomans ranked the lowest out of people that eat their recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables.

Obviously, some changes are needed around these parts.

Change Ain’t Easy

People are set in their ways, so making a case for change can be difficult. Cold hard facts must be presented, along with a plan or suggestions on how to bring any change about. But the easiest way to convince people to do things differently is to lead by example. That is what we intend to do here. In the coming months, our founder Okie Steven will be releasing blog posts and videos that show what we are all about, and how you can make the changes needed to become a happier, healthier person.
